Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull): "I'm happy with
the progress we've made. My first impressions of our new RB8 are
extremely positive. It's totally normal to have small problems, and
anyway I think it's always possible to make a fast car more
reliable."
Mark Webber (Red Bull): "It was pretty good.
The car was fairly competitive in winter testing last year and it's
the same again this year. We feel that we are prepared to do well,
as long as we keep improving. Overall, there are no big
surprises."

Jenson Button (McLaren): "There are no niggly
areas with the car, which is nice. It's quite different to last
year. You're never going to start off with a perfect car, but I
feel it is more together, and it feels a very good base for the
coming days."
Lewis Hamilton (McLaren): "I think the baseline
that we have is something we can really work with. My initial
thoughts were pretty good. I feel quite positive about where the
car is at the moment and I'm confident that the guys can push it
forward."
Fernando Alonso (Ferrari): "We learned a lot
about the difference of the car. It's been a learning test for us.
We arrived at Jerez thinking one idea of the car and maybe it was
not exactly like that. But we worked around and we found the
performance there."
Felipe Massa (Ferrari): "It is a brand new car
and it is a car that needs a lot more work. Sometimes you don't see
the result you expect. We did many different things. I think it is
just the beginning of a big job to have a consistent and
competitive car."
Nico Rosberg (Mercedes): "You can't really
compare the lap times with other teams, but we learned a lot about
the Pirelli tyres and a few other things for the new car. Now I'm
really looking forward to the two Barcelona tests with our new
Silver Arrow."

Michael Schumacher (Mercedes): "Our main job
was to get a first impression of the tyres for 2012 and to start
understanding them. They feel like a step forward, more consistent
and comfortable to drive, and the biggest difference is with the
rear tyres."
Kimi Raikkonen (Lotus): "It was good. We
completed some long runs and good mileage. It was hard to get the
tyre compounds up to temperature, but when the tyres are working we
seem to have a good car and I have a positive feeling from this
first test."
Romain Grosjean (Lotus): "It's better to be
first than last, but we can't draw qualifying from testing. The car
looks good on track, it's good to drive and it's quite good so far.
It's reliable as well. We're trying to keep working and keep
improving ourselves."

Paul di Resta (Force India): "We got through
our entire programme, and a bit more, because we had a good
approach. We can be relatively happy. All the engine modes have
gone, as have the exhausts, and we've lost a ton of downforce, but
the car is balanced."
Nico Hulkenberg (Force India): "The chassis
feels good, and we have a pretty good platform on which we can
start developing, so it's generally pretty positive. On the other
hand there is still room for improvement and work ahead of us in
Barcelona."
Jules Bianchi (Force India): "I'm very sorry
because my mistake has cost the team a lot of time and effort.
Going away from here I want to focus on the positives because we
had a very good previous day and I've really enjoyed working with
the team."

Kamui Kobayashi (Sauber): "For sure we have
found the right direction to go in. The car didn't surprise us with
any big issues, which allowed us to work on improvements straight
away. We have some good ideas of what our next steps will be."
Sergio Perez (Sauber): "Of course we had
problems and we could not manage to complete our programme, but
still I am quite happy with how it went. All in all, I think there
is big potential with this car. I think that we can make it better
and that is our aim."
Daniel Ricciardo (Toro Rosso): "Already out of
the box it seemed pretty well balanced. I did a few laps with the
STR6 this time last year and for me it's an improvement from what I
remember. So pretty positive, we'll see how far we can get up the
grid."
Jean-Eric Vergne (Toro Rosso): "When you have a
good car, and a good balance, you can tell, and it looks quite good
to me. But it is complicated to compare yourself to other teams, so
maybe we have a really good car, or maybe we have a terrible
car."
Pastor Maldonado (Williams): "I'm very happy
because we did a lot of laps - long runs. It's a big difference
between the Renault and the engine we had last year. The car was
okay all day, I had no problems and that is really positive for the
team."
Bruno Senna (Williams): "We had many long runs
that we got some good information from and, when the time comes to
push hard and do a fast lap, we can show some good stuff. It is a
nice to drive car - it's very docile, so we can get it a bit more
edgy."

Heikki Kovalainen (Caterham): "I think we are
better prepared than in the other years, and the car is better
prepared. We still need grip and a more stable rear end, which we
have achieved at high speed, but I'm able to attack more than in
last year's car."
Jarno Trulli (Caterham): "I cannot remember any
better first week testing. We ran into very, very few troubles
despite the fact that the car is totally revolutionary. I am happy
despite the times, which are not representative at all, especially
for us."
Giedo van der Garde (Caterham): "I had to adapt
my style a bit to get used to F1. The quickest lap time is straight
out of the box and that means being on it as soon as you leave the
pits. We used both DRS and KERS today and I felt comfortable with
both."
Pedro de la Rosa (HRT): "Let's say that there
is a lot less grip than what I am used to. When you look at the lap
times, they show everything. It is general lack of grip compared to
a competitive car. With the new car, we know it is a step
forward."
