Nico Rosberg is a German F1 Driver and son of 1982 F1 world champion Keke Rosberg. He won the GP2 championship in 2005 before graduating to Formula 1 in 2006.
Nico began karting at the age of 10, before he moved into single seater race cars in 2002. He raced in the German Formula BMW championship and won the title first time out with 5 wins. His impressive performance led to a rapid move to the Formula 3 Euroseries where he raced for his father's team.
In his first year of F3 he finished the year 8th in the standings, with 1 win and 4 other podium finishes. He scored 45 points which was impressive for a rookie with just 1 season of single seater experience. He also raced in the F3 Macau GP but did not see a good result. The German driver raced for 1 race in the Korean Super Prix and finished 11th.
In 2004 Rosberg stayed with Team Rosberg in F3 Euroseries and progress well. He improved to 4th in the standings with 70 points, 3 wins and 2 other podium finishes to his name. He came 6th in the Masters at Zandvoort F3 race and came 2nd in a one off outing at the Bahrain Super Prix.
In 2004 he also got his first taste of F1 after having a test with the Williams team. In 2005 he progressed to GP2, a new series. He was the first person to win the new F1 feeder series championship with 5 wins out of 23 races, 7 other podium finishes and an eventual tally of 120 points.
During the 2005 GP2 season he became the Williams reserve and test driver. In 2006 he was promoted to a full time race seat and scored points, and fastest lap, on his debut. Only 2 more points were scored in a season littered with unreliability. He finished 17th in the standings. The following 2 years at Williams saw improvement; with Nico scoring a 3rd place in Australia and 2nd in Singapore during the 2008 season. 2007 saw Nico finish 9th in the standings after some consistent points scores and 2008 saw him finish 13th, not able to keep up the consistency despite 2 podiums. In 2009 Nico upped his game and consistently scored top 8 finishes. Despite missing out on a podium he managed to finish the season in 7th with 34.5 points.
2010 saw him partner 7 time world champion Michael Schumacher at the Mercedes team. He outperformed the veteran racer in qualifying and the race, scoring 3 podiums and 142 points. He finished 7th in the championship for the second time in a row. Despite distancing themselves from the cars behind in 2011, Nico was unable to challenge for podiums. He finished 5th twice in 2011 and they were his best results. He finished 7th for the 3rd year in a row with a tally of 89 points.
