Hungary for F1

Someone had to make that pun, didn't they? I'm glad I did it first. Yes, this weekend is the Hungarian GP and the proper start to the second half of the season. Hungary has always been derided as a bit of a rubbish place to go racing, but secretly I quite like it. It's got a reputation for throwing up a bit of an unusual result - Alonso's first win in 2003, Button's first win in 2006, Kovalainen's first win in 2008 and Hamilton's win in 2009 despite the McLaren at the time having the aerodynamic properties of a small van. Our race preview will be out tomorrow, and we'll have live coverage as usual at the following times.

Our build-up to qualifying begins at 12.30, with live commentary from 13.00. The same applies on Sunday - the excitement begins at 12.30, with the lights going out at 13.00. Those times are BST (UK), so make sure you work out their relevance to wherever you might be.

We've got a few members of the team on holiday at the moment, so please forgive us if you spot anything different, which hopefully you won't. Speaking of which, a few days after the Hungarian GP we'll be taking advantage of F1′s summer break and taking one of our own. We'll still be updating both our Twitter and F1Lite.com regularly, but might be a little slower to do so. It won't last too long, so please stick with us.

Finally, I've been told to ask if you have any suggestions for this section of the website. It's not that we've created it with no ideas in hand (we plan to use it for competitions, special features, surveys and better insights once the season gets underway again), but if there's anything else you'd like - pictures from the heart of F1Lite HQ even - don't hesitate to ask.

See you in Hungary!

About the Author

Alex has been a passionate F1 fan for as long as he can remember, catching the motorsport bug in the nineties after he was presented with his own kart. He met Felix in his school days and together they founded F1Lite which gained thousands of followers through Twitter and their website. Felix is now a member of the PortalF1 team too. Alex has journalistic ambitions, particularly in the field of sports and politics. However, in his spare time he prefers to relax by cycling, playing badminton, eating out and reading - a world away from the high octane thrills of motorsport.
