The end is nigh

Written by Alex Norton - No comments

Once again the weeks seem to have flown by since my last update. In the time that has passed, we've rattled through two grand prix weekends at two of our most impressive new venues - India and Abu Dhabi. And now, we stand with eighteen races behind us and just one remaining: Brazil. In my opinion it's the perfect place to end the season, a place which has its own terrific history and an unmatched passion for motor racing - and a variable climate to boot. The result is usually a fantastic race. It is strange to think that we were at one point pencilled in to end in Bahrain early in December.

So, all of us here at F1Lite are looking forward to a bit of a post-season break. It feels like an age since Sebastian Vettel led the way home in Melbourne - and we're proud to have covered each and every grand prix live for the first time. However, we're not resting on our laurels too much, and soon after the season ends our attention will turn to next year. We'll be formally unveiling a new partnership with PortalF1 which should see some really positive changes here on F1Lite.com, which we're very excited about. In addition, one of my roles will be to focus on our growing Facebook user base, and provide them with a much more comprehensive service than they currently enjoy, so we're exploring all of the options for enhancing our page there. And of course, we won't forget where we started out: our Twitter page will continue to be updated every day throughout the off-season in the run up to pre-season testing and beyond. We're yet to finalise our plans for live commentary next year, but you'll be the first to know when we do.

Next year is set to be a year of change both in our own lives, in our service and in F1 generally. If you want to contribute to the future of F1Lite, then next month we will be carrying out our annual survey. Your opinions will have a real bearing on how we go about getting even better. It's all set to be a fascinating period, albeit one which will offer its own frustrations and problems - all part of the experience. For now though, let's focus on enjoying the last chapter of the 2011 story, one which we've covered from the very first day of testing - gaining thousands of the new followers and friends from all over the world in the process.

Our next update will be in the run-up to Christmas.

About the Author

Alex has been a passionate F1 fan for as long as he can remember, catching the motorsport bug in the nineties after he was presented with his own kart. He met Felix in his school days and together they founded F1Lite which gained thousands of followers through Twitter and their website. Felix is now a member of the PortalF1 team too. Alex has journalistic ambitions, particularly in the field of sports and politics. However, in his spare time he prefers to relax by cycling, playing badminton, eating out and reading - a world away from the high octane thrills of motorsport.
