Hi, and welcome to the brand new editor's page on F1Lite.com.
The idea behind this section is to give us well paid, jetsetting
executives an opportunity to share the latest general happenings
with you, give you any important news that might crop up and
hopefully provide you with a bit of a personal insight into what we
do, as well as chuck in any bits that don't quite make it to your
Twitter feed.
I'm writing this after a manic German Grand Prix which saw Lewis
Hamilton come out on top. It's safe to say it was quite hard for
our live team to stay on top of, especially as one of our main
commentators is a (distraught) Jenson Button fan. In a race like
that it's all too easy to forget you're meant to be doing a job and
just stare at the action, so it's a fine art of balancing watching
the race and typing at the speed of light. Still, it all went off
fairly well with literally no complaints - a record, if you're
wondering. The real drama for me personally came just after the
race when negotiating F1Lite HQ, only to drop/throw my iPad, quite
by accident, towards a stone wall. It made a hefty dent in the
building itself but the precious glass came away largely unscathed,
which means you will continue to enjoy our coverage until the next
heart stopping mishap.
In better news, just recently we passed 5,000 followers having
been on Twitter for just under two years, a huge achievement for us
that we never really thought would happen. We've almost doubled our
userbase this season, so a massive thankyou to those of you who
helped us reach that milestone, and we look forward to adding
another five thousand sooner rather than later. We do set ourselves
little targets before each race and season, and we'd love to hit
five figures by this time next year. It's quite an ambitious one,
so invite your friends!
With the competition hotting up we're massively looking forward
to another great race in Hungary next weekend. Unfortunately some
rather selfish members of the team have chosen to take a well
earned break, leaving the rest of us absolutely flat out trying to
keep up our normal level of service. Please be patient if things go
dramatically and disastrously wrong, which given our proud
reputation for cock-ups, could well happen. We'll publish all our
commentary times and any other bits and bobs here in the coming
days and weeks, so stay tuned for that. Hopefully we'll have
something a bit more interesting to tell you next time around. Oh,
and if you've got any feedback about F1Lite generally, you can
leave it in the comments section underneath this blog. It's
genuinely useful stuff for us so please don't hesitate.
That's it for this quick introduction, thanks for reading and
we'll be back soon.
Alex,
